In honor of Joe and Margaret Padgett’s anniversary, their children and grandchildren invite family and friends to an open house at the Padgett’s home on Saturday, September 6, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Joe (of Waynesburg) and Margaret Haught (of Eubank) were married on September 4, 1948, at the home of Margaret’s mother, Stella H. Kidd, with Elmer Baker officiating.
Joe’s brother, J.D. Padgett, and Margaret’s sister, Marjorie Haught Measel, witnessed this event, believing that what God had put together, no man could separate, confirming that when Jesus Christ is the center of a marriage, it will remain steadfast.
Joe and Margaret have lived in the area for most of their marriage except for the 16-year epoch adventure in the western part of the United States!
Joe worked as a foreman for Wittman Contracting Company, laying water lines for various communities throughout California, Arizona and Texas.
They returned to Waynesburg in January 1974, opened a grocery store and have remained active in the church and community.
They have four children, Reta Hampton, Bakersfield, Calif.; Vicki Faw Harding, Waynesburg; Anita O’Dell, Nashville, Tenn., and the late Jesse Padgett.
They also have seven grandchildren, Reneé Hampton Harder, Waynesburg; Rachelle Hampton Burns, Moore, Okla.; Joseph Hampton, Safford, Ariz.; Wiley Faw, Paris, Ky.; Rebecca Faw Scalf, Bradford, Ohio; and Matthew and Zac O’Dell, both of Nashville, Tenn. They are also the great-grandparents of Tina and Thomas Harder; Bethanie, Jesse and Wyatt Hampton; Jos Faw; and Shepherd and September Scalf.
