Several emergency agencies responded to a large gasoline spill at Kroger South, located in the Grand Central shopping center on South U.S. 27, at around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. The spill was caused by a mechanical malfunction during a gas delivery at the store’s fuel station, and the flammable substance moved downhill into the store’s parking lot before emergency workers were able to halt the spread. The store closed for around four hours Tuesday while the scene was cleaned up.
