Lena Barnes celebrating 99 years!

— Lena Mae Sims Barnes of Godby Lane in Science Hill will celebrate her 99th birthday Sunday, September 28, 2008.
She was born in Waynesburg, Ky., in 1909.
She was wed to Darwin Barnes in 1939 and they were happily married until his death in 1966.
She and her husband resided in California where they operated a laundry business.
After her husband’s death, Mrs. Barnes returned to Kentucky in 1968 and since that time has resided in Science Hill.
She attends and is a member of Campground Baptist Church.
Mrs. Barnes has four brothers and two sisters. Two of her siblings survive. They are Clerance Sims of Science Hill, who is 90 years of age, and a sister, Katharena Schitzer of Waynesburg, who is 92.
