Edna Phelps celebrates 95th birthday

Commonwealth Journal

Somerset — Edna Burdine Phelps of Barnesburg, Somerset, Ky., turned 95 years old May 21, 2011.

She was honored by her family on her birthday.

Her church, Barnesburg Baptist Church, hosted a surprise party after church services May 22.

Edna has four living daughters: Wilma Gail (and Ron) Hail, Edwinna (and Maurice) Daulton, and Sara (and Sonny) Coffee, all of Somerset, and Susan (and Arnie) Engel of Ohio.

Two daughters, Phyllis Adkins and Barbara Adkins Gard, are deceased.

Her daughters say their mother is the first person they fell in love with. She is very protective and her words ring true and strong for her family – even today when her daughters are grown with children and grandchildren of their own.

She has been an example for all of us.

Her faith in God grows stronger everyday and she is a valuable witness for Him to all who knows her.

Each night her daughters can expect a phone call from Mom asking: “Is everyone all right?” and to say “May the Lord Bless You.”

We Love You, Mom!
