FRIDAY, MAY 18

American Cancer Society — Relay for Life fundraiser for the Alexander Family team. Catfish or sirloin tip dinner plates $5.99 at Dinner Bell Restaurant beginning at 5 p.m. All proceeds from dinners sold will be donated to Pulaski County Relay for Life.

Oak Hill Elementary — Family Resource Center Advisory Council will meet at 11 a.m. in the Family Resource Center. Open to the public.

Stepping Stones — Game night, 7 p.m., behind Victory Christian Fellowship. Weather permitting, the group will meet on the hill at the picnic shelter. Bring lawn chairs and be prepared to walk up to the shelter. Handicap vehicles only allowed to park next to the shelter. If there is rain, the group will meet in the lower building. Bring board games, yard games, a finger food/snack, or 2-liter to share.

SATURDAY, MAY 19

American Cancer Society — Relay for Life Yard Sale at Dinner Bell Restaurant parking lot beginning at 9 a.m.

Beechgrove Methodist Church — Breakfast, 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Cost is $6 and all proceeds will go to Beechgrove Cemetery. For more information or to donate people can call 423-3419 or 679-5104.

Heritage Hope Church of God — Yardsale, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine. The church is located at 110 Bourne Ave.

King Bee Baptist Church — Singing, 7 p.m. Everyone welcome.

Poplarville Cemetery Cooperation committee members will meet at Dan Thompson’s office at 108 N. Main Street at 2 p.m. for a short meeting. All members should be at the meeting if possible.

Sardis Christian Church — Singing, 7 p.m., featuring the Cedar Knob Boys and the Owens family.

Shady Grove Methodist Church — Gospel singing, featuring the New Dawn Singers, 7 p.m., Hwy. 1676.

Sievers Lodge 491 and Eastern Star — Tenderloin breakfast, 6-10 a.m. at Sievers Lodge in Nancy. Donations are $6.

Sixth Annual Taylors Survivors American Cancer Society Relay for Life Motorcycle Run – Pulaski County Park, West Ky. 80. Bike registration begins at 10 a.m. Ride starts at 11 a.m. Registration is $10 per person. First lucky ticket receives $100, second, $50. SUNDAY, MAY 20

Acorn Cemetery — Ky. 1675, Decoration day. Those who attend can make a donation to the Petercheff family for cemetery upkeep. If you can’t attend, send donations to: Doris Petercheff, 4845 Hwy. 1675, Somerset, Ky. 42501. This is Acorn Cemetery’s 100th year.

Baldrock Baptist Church — Meeting concerning the Poynter’s Chapel Cemetery to be held at 3 p.m. Anyone interested in the cemetery, please attend. Also, anyone who wishes to save flowers on the graves is advised to remove them. Mowing will begin shortly and the flowers are hard to move.

Bradley’s Pleasure Baptist Church — Homecoming Service, 10 a.m. service, noon lunch and 1 p.m. singing featuring the Crossroads Quartet. Speaking will be Charles Woodcock.

Cumberland Baptist Church — Homecoming. Sunday School, 10 a.m., church services, 11 a.m. Dinner served at noon. Singing in the afternoon featuring the Firm Believers. Located on Omega Park Road.

Mt. Victory Baptist Church — Gospel singing, featuring the Coby Dykes Group, 6 p.m., everyone welcome.

New Hope Baptist Church —Revival service, 6 p.m. Services will go through May 25 and will be at 7 p.m. throughout the rest of the week. Bro. Darry Hatfield will be the Evangelist. There will also be special singing with each service. The church is located in Nancy.

Waynesburg Pioneer Days — Monthly meeting, 2 p.m. Community members are invited to come and give suggestions.

Somerset High School site-based council meeting for May 17 has been moved to this date at 4 p.m. in the Ray Correll Hall of Fame Room.

SATURDAY, MAY 26

God’s Abundant Storehouse, a community outreach service the provides meals for families and individuals, will be serving meals at the Victory Christian Fellowship Family Center on 1156 Oak Hill Road in Somerset from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The meal is free of charge, with a menu of spaghetti, salad, drinks and dessert. Please contact 606-677-1100 to join the meal or if transportation is needed.

Mintonville United Methodist Church — Women’s Group Memorial Day Weekend Cookout and Bake Sale, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., at the church. All proceeds will go to the upkeep of the church cemetery and the Grave Hill Community Cemetery. Fellowship, good food and desserts. Church cemetery manual plot locator book and guides will be available to assist those looking for graves of family or friends.

Old Sears School — 9 miles east on Ky. 192, left on Meece Road, follow signs. 12th annual reunion at the school building, 11 a.m. Former teacher and student Elva Sears Jones will be honored. SUNDAY, MAY 27

LaFavers Reunion — Relatives of Christopher Columbus and Mary Frances (Herd) LaFavers will have a reunion. A potluck lunch will be served at 1 p.m. at South Kentucky RECC. For more information people can call Russell Johnson at 270-866-5116.

Mize Reunion — The ancestors of James Riley Mize will have a reunion at Pleasant Run Fellowship Church. Sunday School is at 10 a.m., worship services is at 11 a.m., and the reunion is at 12:30 p.m. All relatives and friends are invited to the potluck lunch.

Poplarville Church will hold a Memorial service beginning at 11 a.m.

Phelps Reunion — Noon - 4 p.m. at the White Lily Park Shelter. Lunch served at 1 p.m. Everyone bring a covered dish. All family and friends are welcome.

Slate Branch Cemetery – Patriotic service, 2 p.m. Musician, Christina Mayfield; speaker, Dr. Chad Henderson; Sgt. James F. Vaught will be assisted by an honor guard in raising flag to full staff, laying of wreath at flag pole and taps.
