Brandon Roush to play Beach Buckets Nov. 2

Local contestant on NBC’s ‘The Voice’ to bring fellow competitor Christian Porter

Somerset —

NBC’s “The Voice” isn’t the only place you can hear the music of Brandon Roush and Christian Porter — Somerset’s own Beach Buckets is about to get a taste of their talents as well.
Roush, a Pulaski County native who appeared on the popular reality singing competition “The Voice” earlier this year — as well as on the Master Musicians Festival stage this summer with The Dirty Grindstones — will be appearing at Beach Buckets downtown on the Fountain Square on Saturday, November 2 in a special musical event.
Roush is playing with his brother Austin in an act called “Brandon Roush and the Other Brother,” and his former co-contestant on “The Voice” will be appearing too. Christian Porter, a member of country crooner Blake Shelton’s hand-picked team on the show, will be performing at Beach Buckets that night with Roush.
“We’re in it for the same reasons: We’re passionate about music,” said Roush of himself and Porter. “I learned that from spending a lot of time with him in California. We just kind of meld well together and make good music.”
Roush was picked by glamorous pop sensation Shakira for her team, but didn’t make it to the end, finding himself eliminated in what the show calls the “Battle Rounds.”
Still, Roush’s hometown stood behind him every step of the way, excited about the local boy’s turn in the national spotlight.
“He had played with us before he got on ‘The Voice,’ and when he was on it, we held parties where people could come watch him, so we’re one of his favorite venues,” said Caroline Epperson, operating manager at Beach Buckets. “We got in touch with him and told him about what we’re doing, the caliber of concerts we’re wanting to bring to Somerset. It’s dinner and a show, not just band after band. We just want to do something different.”
