Brandon Roush to play Beach Buckets Nov. 2

Local contestant on NBC’s ‘The Voice’ to bring fellow competitor Christian Porter

Somerset —

Roush, a 2011 graduate of Southwestern High School, has been living in Louisville recently, trying to get a jump on his musical career. He still works with autistic children through his job at ABA (Applied Behavioral Advancements), but is also keeping busy “testing the waters” for a possible tour with Porter.
“This is our first little test run,” he said of the Beach Buckets gig. “We’re going to do a couple of shows in Philadelphia (where Porter is from). ... We’ll do this on a more serious scale after the first of the year.”
Roush added that he’s doing a Halloween show in Louisville at Headliners Music Hall also — and it would be more of a treat than a trick to see a possible surprise appearance by Porter there too.
“I’m really trying my best to push my music, trying to make a name for myself,” said Roush, who said he’s played with fellow “Voice” contestant Patrick Dodd some in Memphis lately as well. “Not only here in Louisville, but trying to push farther.”
Epperson said that Beach Buckets is “extremely excited” about having Roush and Porter, and have already received a number of reservations for the event.
The music will start at about 8:30 p.m. November 2, lasting until approximately 11:30 p.m. Admission is $5. Ages 18 and up only, ID required upon entry.
Roush hopes he can reward his faithful fans here in Pulaski with a “pretty good set together” with Porter and his brother Austin, and still has a deep affection for this community, even after hitting the big time.
“We don’t play in Somerset nearly as much as we used to, so it always feels nice to come back and play for the people who watched us grow up,” said Roush. “We’ve always loved playing in Somerset. We love the people. Somerset has been very supportive of me, and I appreciate it. I want to let people know I haven’t forgotten my roots.”
