Luretha Wynn Cross, 98, formerly of Crawford Ave., Somerset, Ky., passed away Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, at The Highlands.
Luretha was born Feb. 14, 1910, in Ferguson, Ky. She was the daughter of the late George Andrew Wynn and Anna Josephine Schneider. Luretha was the widow of the late John Cross. Luretha and John were married March 8, 1930, in Jefferson, Ind.
Luretha was a bookkeeper and co-owner of Somerset Produce and was part owner of Somerset Livestock Market. She was not only a business owner and partner to the Turpin Family, but a friend for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Surviving Luretha is her daughter, Pat (and Claude) Barlow, and a brother, James L. (and Alice) Wynn of Greenville, SC. Also surviving Luretha is her grandchildren, Kathy Barlow, Bruce Barlow, and Wendy Barlow; great grandchildren, Jason and Joshua Sankovitch, Khristen and Brittany Barlow, and Matthew Wessel; and a great-great-grandchild, Jayden Barlow.
Preceding Luretha in death were her parents; her husband; two brothers, George A. Wynn Jr. and Herbert Wynn; and a sister, Joann Wynn.
Visitation will be today, Jan. 7, at 5 p.m. at the chapel of Somerset Undertaking Company. A funeral will be held Thursday, Jan. 8, at 11 p.m. at the funeral home. Officiating will be David Pendley.
Burial will be in the the Somerset Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the building fund at First Baptist Church in Somerset.
