Paul E. Stockton, 95, of Somerset, Ky., husband of Jean Eddy Stockton, departed this life on Saturday, May 24, 2008, at his residence.
He was born on June 24, 1912, in Waverly, Ill., to the late Edgar W. and Frata P. York Stockton. He was a United States Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, a salesman, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Somerset. He was a member of the American Legion Post #38 of Somerset and had served on the Honor Guard detail. He enjoyed gardening and playing his musical instruments, especially his banjo.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Eddy Stockton, whom he married on Aug. 30, 1942, in Tampa, Fla., at McDale Air Corps Base; three sons, Allen (and Sherry) Stockton, of Monticello, Ky., David Stockton, of Somerset, and Mark Stockton, of Lexington, Ky.; a sister, Valrye Saunders, of San Diego, Calif.; four grandchildren, Christine K. Thirsk, Robin G. (and Chris) Waters, George G. (and Crystal) Ridge, and Aleisha (and Geoffery) Elmore; and five great grandchildren, Taegan Waters, Kinssley Waters, Silas Elmore, Amelia Elmore, and Tanner Ridge.
Preceding him in death were his parents, and a brother, Roy C. Stockton.
Visitation will be today, May 27, after 6 p.m. at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 28, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor French Harmon officiating.
Burial will follow in the Craig Cemetery in Clinton County with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard of Somerset.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, 100 Parkway Drive, Somerset, Ky., 42503.
