James “Theo” Young, 82, of Somerset, Ky., passed away on Friday, June 12, 2009, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born on Dec. 18, 1926, in Pulaski County, Ky., the son of the late Isaac Lloyd and Amy Jane Neely Young. Mr. Young was a retired truck driver for the Diversified Trucking Co. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II and a member of Pulaski Baptist Church.
Mr. Young is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Tucker Young; eight children, Paul Ervin (and Dianna) Young of Bronston, Ky., Wendell Ray Young of Somerset, Forrest James (and Teresa) Young of Big Stone Gap, Va.; Shirl Wayne (and Karen) Young of West Chicago, Ill., David Bradley (and Tatyana) Young of Chesapeake, Va., Kimberly Gayle Mathis of Austin, Texas, Karen Elaine Young of River Grove, Ill., and Kathy Nell (and Bill) Ludwig of River Grove, Ill.; two brothers, George M. (and Anna) Young of Eubank, Ky., and Delvin Ray (and Barbara) Young of Mooresville, Ind.; four sisters, Velma Chastian of Indianapolis, Ind., Melba Crain of Mooresville, Ind., Glenna (and Gail) Carter of Indianapolis, and Rosetta (and Tommy) Hall of Summerville, S.C.; 18 grandchildren, April Kutey, Brian Vaught, James Young, Jason Young, Patrick Young, Daniel Young, Amanda Hutchison, Bridget Young Trent, Heather Young Stewart, Tiffany Lewis, Crystal Mathis, Amanda Mathis, Candice Elwell, Dominique Moretti, Tyler
Moretti, Jayson Young, Elizavetta Young, and Bradley Young; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Isaac and Amy Young; three sons, Gary, Larry, and Harry; six brothers, Herstell, Esteon, Starlin, Joe, Cecil, and Vernon; a great grandchild, Logan Wayne Hutchison; and a brother-in-law, Harold Crain.
Visitation will be Monday, June 15, after 6 p.m. at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 16, at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jason Young officiating.
Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
The American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard will conduct full military honors.
The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to the James Theo Young Memorial Fund, c/o Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
