Irene Mills

Irene Mills passed away on July 22, 2008 at Sunrise Living in Worthington, Ohio.

Irene was born to the late Stella and Edgar Meece on May 29, 1909 in Somerset, Ky. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard E. Mills, young son, Jerry Lee Mills, two sisters Opal Rains and Edna Hurt, and one brother Delbert “Tobe” Meece.

Irene is survived by her son, Richard E. Mills, Jr. of Tucson, Ariz., and daughter, Patricia Melvin of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters; Thelma Tucker of Somerset, Ky. and Marcella Human of Jacksonville, Fla.; and one brother: Charles Meece of Somerset, Ky. Also surviving are four nieces, one nephew, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 8 at the Claremont Retirement Village, Columbus, Ohio.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday August 9 in Springfield, Ky.

Family and friends will gather together after each service to celebrate Irene’s life.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Odyssey Hospice 540 Officenter Place, Suite 100 Gahanna, Ohio 43230.
