Robert "Bob" Hansen, 72, of Eubank, passed away Monday, Sept. 28, 2009 at University of Kentucky Medical Center.
He was born Tuesday, March 23, 1937 in East Chicago, Ind. to the late Edward and Ann Resare Hansen. Bob was a retired steel worker for LTV Steel, a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, a former associate with Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home, a Past Master and duel member of Waynesburg Lodge #328 and Griffith Masonic Lodge F&AM, Scottish Rite, a lifetime member of DAV, a
Kentucky Colonel and an official greeter and member of Oak Grove #2 Baptist Church. He will be remembered for his love for children, toys and telling stories.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Linda Rockwell Hansen; and a sister, Ann Evion.
He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Slone Hansen of Eubank; a step-daughter, Donna Kuroski and her husband, Jack of Dallas, N.C.; two grandchildren, Rebecca and Michael Harvey; five nieces; and many friends.
An appreciation of life service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2 at Oak Grove #2 Baptist Church by Bro. Bill Meece. Burial will follow in Double Springs Cemetery with military honors.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church with a Masonic Service beginning at 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, Wanda has asked that memorial gifts be made to the church's building fund.
Denver Rose, Doug Waldroup, Howard Gibson, Ronnie Haste, Jimmy Adams and Danny Adams will serve as the pallbearers.
Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home has been entrusted with these arrangements.
