Marie Evans, 84, of Richmond, Ky., passed away Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 14, 2008, at Lake Cumberland
Regional Hospital in Somerset, Ky. She was the widow of Vernon “Doc” Evans, born in
Irvine, Ky., to the late James Wesley and Edie Arvin Lamb. Marie was a homemaker and a member of the
Harris Memorial Baptist Church.
Mrs. Evans is survived by two daughters, Linda (and Leroy) Goldson of Burnside, Ky., and Kimberly (and
Darwin) McKinney of North Little Rock, Ark.; grandchildren Deana Goldson-New and Evan Goldson,
both of Somerset, and Christopher Burns of Cabot, Ark.; great-grandchildren Makenzie and Hunter
Goldson, both of Somerset; sisters Alberta Wirth of Hampton, Va., Jessie Mae Neal of Irvine, and Brenda
Horn of Cincinnati, Ohio; and brothers Paul and Dawson Lamb, both of Irvine, and Norman Lamb of
Waco, Ky.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by brothers Herman, Brock, James Edward and
Billy Lamb.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Turpin Funeral Home, Richmond, Ky.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 17 at the funeral home with Rev. Chris Buck officiating, followed
by burial in the Flatwoods Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Evan Goldson, Christopher Burns, Robby Horn,
J. B. Collins, Donald Rhodus and Tony Lamb. Honorary pallbearers are Albert Lamb and Les Anglin.
