Harlan “Butch” Young was born on Oct. 19, 1931. He passed away at his home in Eubank, Ky., on Saturday Oct. 17, 2009, surrounded by loving family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Young; a son, Kurt (and Gail) Young of West Milton, Ohio; three stepchildren, Mike (and Amy) Hogg of Berea, Ky., Sherry (and Clint) Thomas of Whitesburg, Ky., and Tia (and John) Gowers of Shelbyville, Ky.; and seven grandchildren, Amy Young, Kaylynn Young, Ellie Hogg, Claire Hogg, Caleb Thomas, Taylor Gowers and Emilee Gowers.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Harold and Mildred Young; his first wife, Betty Wilds-Young; and a stepson, Michael Woxman.
Butch was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving three years with the U.S. Marines, and was an M-1 Instructor at Parris Island. He was a member of the American Legion and the Experimental Aircraft Association. He was retired from Ohio Bell after 30 years of service.
A private memorial service will be held on Sunday, Oct. 25, at Singletontown First Church of God in Waynesburg.
