Several injuries result from early Monday accident on Ky. 39

By SUSAN WHEELDON, CJ Staff Writer
Commonwealth Journal

Three people were transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital following a wreck during rush hour yesterday morning.

According to the Somerset Police report, the two-vehicle accident occurred at 8:15 a.m. when a 2002 Ford Explorer driven by Cassandra Franklin, 33, of Eubank, was headed southbound on Ky. 39 and a 1997 Ford Mustang driven by Jordon Sowders, 16, of Science Hill, was attempting to make a left turn onto Ky. 39 at the stop sign.

Sowders said he rolled forward to be able to see at the intersection; however, Franklin said Sowders’ Mustang rolled into the roadway.

At that time, Franklin struck Sowders’ vehicle in the drivers side quarter panel area with her front right bumper.

Both Franklin and Sowders had two passengers in their vehicles at the time of the accident.

The passengers in Sowders vehicle were Erin Carter, 17, of Eubank, and Brian Sowders, age unknown, of Science Hill.

Those in the Franklin vehicle were Larry Hines, 58, of Somerset, and Hunter Franklin, 2, of Eubank.

Cassandra Franklin, Hines and Hunter Franklin were all transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital following the accident.

According to Susan Ramsey Wilson, community relations director at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, all three were treated but not admitted to the hospital.

Assisting at the scene was Somerset Fire/EMS and the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department.
