Remember to fly the American Flag

Readers Views

Commonwealth Journal

Dear Editor:

We have 2 days coming up, in May and June, when we should all be proudly flying our American Flags. Memorial Day is May 26th and Flag Day is June 14th.

These would be a great opportunity for all of us to show that regardless of the problems we are all facing today, that regardless of our personal feelings towards the War, that we still love our country and support those who have fought for us and are fighting for us now .

Actually , I believe we should be flying our flags everyday, especially when we have troops fighting overseas.

It’s not really asking a lot to fly a flag outside your home, your business, on your car window, or anywhere it can be seen.

Please show your pride in your country and love and support for our troops.

As we have for the past 6 years, The Prisoner of War and Missing in Action Memorial Garden Committee, are making low cost flags available to the public.

We have the following available:

• Full sized 3 ft by 5 ft American Flags for a $ 6 donation.

• Full sized 3 ft by 5 ft POW/MIA Flags for a $ 6 donation.

• Complete American Flag Kit including a full sized 3 ft by 5 ft flag, 6 ft pole, adjustable mounting bracket and Eagle for a $ 15 donation.

• Car Window Flags for a $ 2 donation.

• Various designs of Patriotic Car Magnets for a $ 2 donation.

• 12 in. by 18 in. American Flag and stick for a $ 1 donation.

All proceeds from your donations will be used for maintaining the POW/MIA Memorial Garden, keeping the floral wreaths present year round at the 4 War Memorials and the POW/MIA Garden , at the Court House, and supplying POW/MIA Flags at the Court House and City Hall.

If you have not seen the POW/MIA Memorial Garden please stop by. It is one of only a few like it. It is located adjacent to the Court House.

Stop by KIS Photo, located just East of the Old Ky. 80 and U.S. 27 Intersection, beside the new Subway, and pick up your flags from Ernie Bach.

We will also gladly accept worn and damaged Flags and see that they are disposed of in an honorable way.

Or contact me at CKYDAN22@AOL.COM

Please help support a great cause and show your support for our country and our troops.
