We need to save our nation
letters to the editor

Dear Editor:
In 1798, Congress passed The Alien and Sedition Acts in an effort to strengthen the federal government. These laws were also used to quiet political opposition from the Republicans, led by Thomas Jefferson.
Now comes the ghosts of Jonathan Dayton and Theodore Sedgwick in the form of Rahm Emanuel and David Axelrod on the Sunday talk shows, still attacking Fox News for questioning the president’s (peace be upon him) policies. They accuse them of being biased and networks like ABC should not follow their stories. But you don’t hear them screaming about the biased comments from the likes of Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow or Chris (shivers up my leg) Mathews. Obviously, we are not allowed to question or disagree with the administration.
Scary, isn’t it?
Similar to Germany prior to World War II?
The White House appears to be acting just like they did back in 1798. Are we facing a new Sedition Act from this administration?
We now hear a speech made to high school students back in June, by Anita Dunn, White House Communications director, where she said that her two most admired political philosophers were Mao Se Dong and Mother Teresa and the ones she goes to the most. Really? How many millions of people did Mao have murdered? A great example for students, don’t you think?
Ms. Dunn has also admitted that the White House controls the news media, except Fox News, of course.
If that isn’t enough, we hear that our new Supreme Court Justice, Sotomayor, has said that during the nominating process, the White House even picked out her clothes! If the White House thinks so little of a Supreme Court nominee’s ability to pick her own wardrobe, I wonder what they think of us common folk?
Seriously, we need to look at what is happening in our country. This goes way beyond political parties and it didn’t start with this administration. It goes back to the FDR administration, when Joe McCarthy uncovered communist infiltration of our government and although he was laughed out of Congress by the progressives and liberals, he was vindicated after the Cold War and KGB records confirmed many of the names mentioned by the senator were actually spies. The progressives and liberals, or Marxists and Socialists, have been slowly eating away at our Constitution since the end of World War II.
We may have one chance to save our country and our way of life and that is at the next election in 2010. We have to elect people who believe in conservative principles and in our Constitution, whether they are Democrat or Republican.
Get involved and vote!
