Two people are injured in Ky. 39 accident

Somerset — Two people were taken to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital after the car they were traveling in struck a guardrail, crossed over the guardrail, and struck a tree yesterday morning.

According to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department, the accident occurred at 8:25 a.m. approximately 10 miles north of Somerset on Ky. 39.

Upon arrival, the sheriff’s department’s investigation revealed that Clarence Hasty Jr., 61, Brodhead, Ky., was operating a 1992 Buick southbound on Ky. 39 when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a guardrail. After the impact with the guardrail, the Hasty vehicle crossed over the guardrail, and then overturned after striking a tree.

Hasty was extricated from the vehicle by members of the Somerset Pulaski County Rescue Squad.

Hasty and a passenger in his vehicle, Chris Hasty, 31, Mt. Vernon, Ky., were both treated at the scene and transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital by the Somerset Fire/EMS.

According to Susan Ramsey Wilson, community relations director at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, both Clarence Hasty Jr., and Chris Hasty were treated in the emergency room at the hospital and were not admitted.

Assisting at the scene was the Woodstock Fire Department.
