Woman accused of making death threat

local news

By CHRIS HARRIS, CJ Staff Writer
Commonwealth Journal

Bronston A Bronston woman was arrested Thursday after making what was perceived as a death threat to an employee of Burnside Elementary School.

Michelle Carrender, 38, was charged with second-degree terroristic threatening, a Class D felony, and taken into custody by the Burnside Police Department.

According to Officer Bruce Blevins, at 7:55 a.m. Thursday, he and Police Chief Eddie Glover responded to a call regarding a fight in progress at the school. Investigation revealed that two juveniles, both high school-age students who had been on the bus, were fighting on school grounds.

Carrender, the mother of one of the boys, called Burnside Elementary, and stated that she was “going to come and kill someone,” according to Burnside Police. The employee who received the call notified the authorities of the threats, and Burnside officers were waiting for Carrender when she arrived at the school.

Carrender was not lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center, but paid bond at the Pulaski County Courthouse.

Blevins reminded other parents of school children to hold their emotions in check when in tense situations.

“She was upset because someone was fighting with her son,” said Blevins. “Threats toward the school and school employees is something that won’t be tolerated.”
