Sheriff’s Department looking for suspects in copper thefts

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department is currently investigating a series of thefts that occurred over the course of a night in which copper was stolen from four local businesses.

According to Lt. Brett Whitaker of the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department, the thefts occurred Tuesday at four businesses on the south end of the county.

One of those businesses is located in the Burnside city limits.

Whitaker said the suspects stole air conditioning units and also disassembled larger units at such places as Buyer’s Paradise and Lake Cumberland Country Music.

In every incident, Whitaker said, the suspects were after copper material, which is becoming more and more expensive.

He noted Buyer’s Paradise alone had $17,000 in damages.

Whitaker said they have identified some suspects in the thefts, but they are still in the process of identifying others. Whitaker said there are a total of four suspects involved in the thefts.

Two different groups of suspects are thought to be a part of the crimes.

Whitaker said anyone with information about the thefts should contact the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department at 678-5145.
