By HEATHER PYLES, CJ Staff Writer
Commonwealth Journal

Several defendants were sentenced to prison terms on Thursday, March 20, during criminal motion hour in Pulaski Circuit Court.

The following people were sentenced by Judge Jeffrey T. Burdette:

• Michael D. Downs, 32, of Nancy, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 10 years in prison for a robbery at Jackson’s Travel Pizza. According to a press release, Downs, armed with a gun, stole cash from the business and was later apprehended in Fayette County after an investigation revealed he was the perpetrator.

• Mark Andrew Alban, 36, of Somerset, was sentenced to five years in prison for second-degree burglary and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. According to Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney David Dalton, an investigation by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Alban as the person caught rummaging through an attached garage of a Science Hill residence. In addition, Alban, a convicted felon, admitted to selling firearms in May 2007. Burdette ordered that the new five year sentence run consecutive to a prior paroled sentence for a total prison term of 15 years.

• Corky Lee Hendricks, 27, of Somerset, was sentenced to five years in prison for burglary and theft charges stemming from an investigation by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office. According to the press release, in September 2007 Hendricks was caught attempting to sell firearms he had reportedly stolen from a home in Eubank, along with several other things.

• Charles Luther Bolin Jr., 31, of Cincinnati, Ohio, was sentenced to one year in prison for two counts of felony theft and one count of complicity to fraudulent use of a credit card.

• Lori Lee Dykes, 38, pleaded guilty to one count of felony theft by deception and one count of first-degree perjury. According to Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Jeremy Bartley, Dykes admitted to assisting in a scam to sell phony drugs to the Lake Cumberland Area Drug Task Force. In addition, Dykes admitted that she gave false testimony to a Pulaski County Grand Jury in relation to a burglary investigation in January 2006. A two-year prison sentence was recommended, and Burdette set final sentencing for April 17.

• David Franklin Slagle Jr., 40, of Somerset, pleaded guilty to multiple counts of burglary stemming from an investigation by the Somerset Police Department. A five-year prison term was recommended and Burdette set final sentencing for April 17.

• Cameron Stacy Hammonds, 30, of Bronston, was sentenced to three years in prison for the offense of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
