Arrest nets $12,000 in cocaine

Two people were arrested Wednesday night after authorities discovered approximately $12,000 worth of cocaine, along with several other items, in their vehicle during a search conducted outside Alpine Park.
According to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department, Wanda A. Godbey, 44, of Earlington, Ky., and Christopher M. Wilson, 25, of Clarksville, Tenn., were arrested Wednesday after Deputy Adam Childress came across their vehicle parked at the entrance to Alpine Park at approximately 10:45 p.m.
Childress checked the vehicle and deployed a K9 unit to determine whether there were illegal narcotics in the car.
When it was discovered that drugs were present, Childress and the Narcotics Division with the sheriff’s department conducted an investigation that uncovered multiple items, according to the press release.
More than 120 grams of cocaine, valued at approximately $12,000 were discovered, along with cash, pills and a handgun.
Godbey, the driver of the vehicle, was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.
Wilson was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
Both suspects were lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.
Sheriff’s units were assisted at the scene by the Pulaski County 5th District Constable.
The investigation is continuing by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Depart-ment’s Narcotics Division.
