U.S. Congressman Harold “Hal” Rogers, KY-05, presents J.W. Grabeel with the “Hal Rogers Leadership Award” for his dedication and service to Boy Scouts. Rogers, the first recipient of the leadership award, said Grabeel lives by the core principles of the Scouting program: service, citizenship and leadership. Grabeel was “overwhelmed” and said he was “deeply honored” to accept this award. “Boy Scouts is a wonderful program that reinforces what is being taught in the family and church,” he said. The award was presented at the 5th annual Hal Rogers Leadership Award dinner hosted by The Bluegrass Council Boy Scout of America, Lake Cumberland District, at The Center for Rural Development Commonwealth Journal


Congressman Rogers and his wife, Cynthia, presents the family of the late John Prather Sr. with a framed copy of a memorial tribute he introduced on the House floor in memory of “one of the greatest Scout leaders in this county.” A copy of the published article in the U.S. Congressional Record was framed and presented to the Prather family. Accepting the award from Rogers is Jean Prather, wife of the late John Prather Sr. With her are son John G. Prather Jr.; and grandson Jay Prather. The presentation was made at the 5th annual Hal Rogers Leadership Award dinner hosted by the Bluegrass Council Boy Scouts of America, Lake Cumberland District, at The Center for Rural Development.
