A three-year-old Hustonville boy was listed in serious condition at the University of Kentucky Medical Center last night following a one-vehicle accident yesterday morning.
Two other individuals in the vehicle were taken to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital following the accident, which occurred 18 miles west of Somerset in Nancy.
According to Pulaski County Sheriff Todd Wood, his department received a call about the injury accident with entrapment at 9:47 a.m.
He said upon arrival at the scene an investigation revealed that Sondra Lynn, 25, Hustonville, was operating a 1995 Nissan westbound on Ky. 80 when, after traveling through a left turning curve, her vehicle started hydroplaning on the wet roadway. At that time, Wood said the 1995 Nissan exited the roadway on the southside of Ky. 80, striking an earth embankment, causing the vehicle to flip over onto its top. The vehicle then traveled a short distance before striking a tree and coming to rest.
Wood said Lynn and a passenger, Jimmy Lynn Deatherage, 3, Hustonville, who was in the back seat, were able to exit the vehicle while it was on its top.
Meanwhile, the passenger in the front seat, Quincy Mason, 37, Albany, had to be freed from the vehicle by the Pulaski County Rescue Squad and the Nancy Fire Department.
Lynn, Deatherage and Mason were all transported by Somerset Fire/EMS from the scene to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Susan Ramsey Wilson, director of community relations at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, said both Mason and Lynn were treated in the emergency room and were not admitted to the hospital.
Meanwhile, she said Deatherage was treated in the emergency room and later taken to the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
Also assisting at the scene of the accident was the Russell County Sheriff’s Department.
