Sheriff’s department makes several arrests

Local News

By HEATHER PYLES, CJ Staff Writer
Commonwealth Journal

A Somerset man was arrested Thursday night on drug charges after a sheriff’s deputy discovered a pickup truck sitting stationary in the lot of a local business off West Ky. 80.

According to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department, Timothy L. Cook, 27, of 338 Francis Drive, Somerset, was arrested after Deputy Steve Molen observed a Chevrolet truck sitting in the lot of Lakeway Food Mart with the interior lights on.

Molen approached the vehicle and investigated Cook, and he discovered he was under the influence of a drug and in possession of a controlled substance.

During the investigation Molen found a hypodermic needle containing a melted solution of Oxycontin in the vehicle along with five other needles and a metal can utilized for melting the drug.

Cook was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs.

He was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department made several other arrests this past weekend, including the following:

• Larry Boshers, 50, of Ky. 196, Nancy, was arrested Saturday in Rockcastle County on a Pulaski Circuit Court warrant of arrest on indictment and returned to the county.

Boshers was indicted in March for second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance after a nine-month investigation by the sheriff’s department into illegal drug activity in the area.

He was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond.

• Andy L. Field, 28, of Somerset, was arrested Saturday on a Pulaski Circuit Court warrant of arrest on indictment for flagrant non-support.

Field was indicted by a grand jury in May after he failed to pay child support in the amount of $10,503. He was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash bond.

• Angela E. Taylor, 26, of 47 Driftwood Circle, Somerset, was arrested Friday on a Pulaski Circuit Court warrant of arrest on indictment and charged with attempt to obtain a controlled substance by fraud.

Taylor was indicted by a grand jury in May after an investigation by the Lake Cumberland Area Drug Task Force revealed that she attempted to obtain Hydrocodone, a controlled substance, by phoning a fake prescription to College Drugs on August 6, 2007.

Taylor was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center on a $15,000 bond.
