Four nabbed in Meth bust

By CHRIS HARRIS, CJ Staff Writer
Commonwealth Journal

Four local men were taken into custody Friday after the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department busted a methamphetamine-production operation in the Nancy area.

Brandon Butt, 26, of 905 Old Columbia Road, Nancy; Eric E. Denniston, 22, of 60 Hislope Road, Nancy; Jonathan C. Hall, 36, of 76 Ky. 1664, Nancy, and Gregory A. Pennington, 40, of 60 Hislope Road, Nancy, were all arrested on drug-related charges.

The investigation began around 3 a.m., after Narcotics Det. Glen Bland received information regarding an active meth lab located off Buchanan Road. Along with Deputies Steve Molen and Adam Childress, Det. Bland went to the location and conducted surveillance.

There, the deputies observed two vehicles and several individuals in a field near a creek. Upon approaching the suspects, an active meth lab was discovered inside one of the vehicles at the scene, and a quantity of the finished product was located there.

Hall was arrested at the scene and charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, a first offense. However, four other males walked up on the deputies during the investigation and fled on foot after realizing that law enforcement was present.

Three of the four were arrested, including Butt, Denniston, and Pennington. Butt was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, a first offense, and buying or possessing drug paraphernalia, also a first offense.

Denniston was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), a first offense, second-degree possession of a controlled substance (Hydrocodone), a first offense, public intoxication, buying or possession drug paraphernalia, a first offense, tampering with physical evidence, and having a prescription controlled substance not in its proper container.

Pennington was charged with second-degree possession of a controlled substance (Hydrocodone), a first offense, third-degree possession of a controlled substance (Diazepam), a first offense, and having a prescription controlled substance not in its proper container.

All of those arrested as listed above were lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center. The clean-up of the scene was conducted by the Somerset Fire Investigation Team.
