Fire at local inn may have drugs at root

The Somerset Fire Department responded to a report of a Structure Fire at Economy Inn on Monticello Street on Sunday — and law enforcement believe drug production may be the cause.
Firefighters were alerted at 11:16 p.m. to the fire.
Upon arrival, responders found one room of the motel fully involved. Fire units extinguished the blaze with water.
Fire units contacted State Fire Marshals Office and the scene was turned over to Somerset Fire Investigation Unit.
Det. Shannon Smith of the Somerset Police Department confirmed that officials believe methamphetamine product-ion may be the cause of the fire. The investigation is still underway and to Smith’s knowledge, no arrests have been made.
Firefighters were on the scene until almost 2:57 a.m.
No injuries were reported in the fire.
