Somerset One individual was flown to the University of Kentucky and another transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital after a two-vehicle accident occurred yesterday afternoon in northern Pulaski County.

Emergency personnel received a report of an injury accident at 12:49 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Ky. 70 and Good Hope Church Road in northern Pulaski County near the Woodstock community.

The accident occurred when a west bound 1997 Honda Civic, driven by Cindy Pope, 43, of Whitley City, struck a 1992 Ford F250 truck, also west bound, driven by David Acton, 34, of Somerset, in the driver’s side door.

Pulaski County Sheriff Todd Wood said Pope attempted to pass Acton just as he began to turn left onto Good Hope Church Road.

“(Pope) didn’t realize (Acton) was going to turn,” Wood said.

Pope and a passenger in the Civic, Kenneth Redden, 39, suffered minor head injuries. Redden also suffered from some type of hip injury and was flown from the scene by LifeNet to the UK Medical Center.

An 11-year-old that was in the Civic at the time of the crash was uninjured. Wood said the 11-year-old was wearing a seat belt when the incident occurred. Wood said it did not appear that Pope and Redden were wearing seat belts.

Redden was listed in fair condition last night at the UK Medical Center.

Pope was still being treated in the emergency room at LCRH and was listed in fair conditionas well.

Acton and two passengers in the truck, Sebastian Walker, 48, of Somerset, and Jeffrey Hines, 29, of Eubank, were uninjured.

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department was assisted on the scene by Woodstock Volunteer Fire Department, Somerset-Pulaski EMS and LifeNet.
