Somerset man pleads guilty to firearm possession charge

Local News

By HEATHER PYLES, CJ Staff Writer
Commonwealth Journal

A Somerset man pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon Thursday in connection with two incidents in which several shots were fired in the downtown Somerset area in March.

Antonio “Tony” Hill, 30, of Somerset, was arrested in late March after he was identified as a suspect in an incident in which five shots were fired into the air near the entrance of the Rocky Hollow Recreational Center on South Central Avenue.

Hill was also connected with another incident in which one shot was fired into the ceiling of a downstairs apartment on South Central.

The shot which was fired into the ceiling nearly hit a young boy who had been sleeping on the floor in the upstairs apartment.

Hill had admitted to owning a weapon, but didn’t admit to firing the shots.

Hill appeared before Pulaski Circuit Judge David A. Tapp, and a two-year prison sentence was recommended.
