Burnside man arrested following high-speed chase in Somerset

— A Burnside man was taken into custody Thursday night after he led law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit.
Randall Toney, 45, was arrested on Griffin Avenue after fleeing the scene of a hit-and-run accident near the Wal-Mart Super Center on U.S. 27.
Toney, driving a 1995 Honda Passport 4x4, was chased from Wal-Mart into the Ferguson area, where eye witnesses said he drove through several yards to elude police.
When law enforcement hemmed Toney in on the 100 block of Bourne Avenue, he jumped a curb and blew out two tires. Instead of surrendering, Toney lept from his vehicle and took off on foot, jumping a fence into a yard on Griffin Avenue, where he was apprehended by Kentucky State Police Trooper David Cornett and Ferguson Police Chief David Moss.
Cornett said Toney told him he ran from police because he was driving on an expired permit.
The investigation is continuing and several charges are pending.
Toney was taken to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital for treatment of injuries and testing.
The Kentucky State Police, Ferguson Police Department, Burnside Police Department, Somerset Police Department and Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department all took part in the pursuit.
