Woman involved in U.S. 27 accident upgraded to serious

Somerset — One person injured in an early Thursday morning accident that left one person dead and three others seriously hurt has been upgraded from critical to serious condition.

Ashlee Worley, 25, of Alexander Spur, Somerset, was upgraded overnight from critical to serious condition following the two-vehicle collision that occurred on South U.S. 27 near Sloan’s Valley Road at around 5:54 a.m. Thursday. Worley was a passenger in a 1995 Mustang driven by Amanda Neeley, 21, also of Alexander Spur, Somerset.

Neeley died at the scene of the accident.

According to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department, the Mustang crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 1998 Jeep driven by Joshua Ware, 19, of Jacksboro Street, Ferguson.

Ware, along with Neeley, had to be extricated from his vehicle. He was flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center Thursday for treatment of his injuries. He remained in serious condition as of Friday afternoon.

Another passenger in the Neeley vehicle, Michael Messamore, 27, of West Ky. 80, Somerset, was also airlifted to the UK Medical Center. He remained in critical condition as of Friday afternoon.

The accident is still under investigation.
