Local man airlifted to UK after crash

Somerset — A Science Hill man was flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center following an automobile accident early Monday 4 miles north of Somerset on Ky. 39.

Michael G. Rosenbrook, 27, of 43 Louis Waddle Road, was driving a 2002 Mercury Sable station wagon southbound on the rural highway when the wreck occurred around 6:45 a.m.

According to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department, Rosenbrook improperly tried to pass another vehicle headed south when he encountered a northbound vehicle coming up Ky. 39. Rosenbrook had to steer hard to the right to avoid a collision, causing the vehicle to lose control.

Rosenbrook left the roadway on the west side of Ky. 39, going off the traveled portion of the roadway before re-entering both lanes on the north side. He then left the roadway on the east side, and struck a mailbox and a tree at the addressed 4068 Ky. 39. The vehicle also severed a utility support pole after striking the tree.

Rosenbrook was treated at the scene by Somerset EMS, and refused transport to the hospital, but was airlifted from Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital to the University of Kentucky Medical Center by AirMethods. His condition was unavailable as of presstime.

Chief Larry Wesley of the sheriff’s department said that charges against Rosenbrook for improper passing and possessing no insurance are pending.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Dabney Fire Department and Somerset EMS.
