Man flown to UK after motorcycle wreck Saturday

A Somerset man was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center Saturday afternoon after the motorcycle he was operating left the roadway and struck a culvert, ejecting him from the motorcycle.

According to Kentucky State Police Public Information Officer Don Trosper, Michael F. Hall, 37, of Somerset, was operating a 1997 Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound on Wilson Road north of Somerset at around 12:40 p.m. Saturday when he passed another vehicle and lost control of the motorcycle in a curve.

Hall left the roadway on the left side of the road and struck a small culvert. He was ejected from the motorcycle where he came to a rest on the road.

“(Hall) passed another vehicle at a high rate of seed,” Trosper said.

Hall was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and Trosper said he suffered from several injuries, including road rash. Trosper said the possibility of internal injuries caused police to decide to fly him from the accident site to the UK Medical Center.

A spokesman at the UK Medical Center said Hall was listed in fair condition Saturday afternoon.

Kentucky State Trooper Chris Ison with Post 11 is continuing the investigation.

The Kentucky State Police was assisted at the scene by the Somerset/Pulaski County EMS and the Somerset Fire Department.
