Somerset —
Three Somerset men were arrested Friday evening after an altercation between southern Pulaski neighbors turned into a stabbing and the threat of a firearm.
Those arrested include:
• Joe Carrender, 40, 221 Dry Branch Road, charged with fourth-degree assault and inciting a riot;
• Raymond K. Troxtell, 54, 221 Dry Branch Road, charged with two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment;
• Calvin Carrender, 39, Katie’s Way, charged with failure to disperse.
All three were lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.
On Friday, sheriff’s units responded to the Miller residence at 229 Dry Branch Road following a report of a stabbing and shot being fired. The response was one of many made to the same location by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department over the previous two days because of verbal disputes by the residents there and at 221 Dry Branch Road.
The investigation by the deputies on the scene determined that Joe Carrender and Troxtell went to the Miller residence and engaged in conduct which resulted in an altercation between the Miller family and the other two men. During the altercation, Carrender assaulted a female member of the Miller family, and at some point during the incident, Troxtell produced a pistol and fired a least three times in the direction of the Miller family.
While Troxtell was shooting the firearm, he was stabbed in the lower left abdomen by a member of the Miller family. Troxtell then left the scene and returned to his residence, where he was treated by Somerset Fire-EMS and transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. He was treated and released, at which time he was arrested by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department.
During the investigation of the original scene, Calvin Carrender, Joe’s brother, arrived and began interfering with the deputies’ work. Calvin Carrender was asked to leave the scene several times but refused, leading to his arrest.
No charges have been filed against any member of the Miller family at this time.
The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by Somerset Police, Burnside Police, and Somerset Fire-EMS.
The investigation is continuing by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department.
