Stearns man charged in DUI accident

— Controlled substances may have been involved in a wreck late Saturday night in which one man was arrested and several young adults were hospitalized, according to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department.
Elmer Perry, 38, of Stearns, Ky., was arrested and lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and with operating on a suspended or revoked license.
Perry was driving a 1987 Chevrolet south on U.S. 27, approximately 12 miles south of Somerset, when he struck a northbound 2002 Toyota being operated by Joshua Worley, 19, also of Stearns.
Worley and three passengers, Chandra Kidd, 20, of Pine Knot; Nakisha Kidd, 19, of Pine Knot; and Jordan Hicks, 19, of Simpson Drive in Somerset, were treated at the scene and transported to the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital by Somerset Fire-EMS. All of the above patients were treated at but not admitted to the hospital.
Lt. Philip Cross of the sheriff’s department said Perry’s alleged intoxication likely played a role in the accident.
Sheriff’s units were assisted at the scene by the Pulaski County Constable’s Office and the Tateville Volunteer Fire Department.
The investigation into the accident is continuing by the sheriff’s department.
