Masked bandit allegedly robs store at gunpoint

Somerset —

Police are looking for a suspect who allegedly robbed a local gas station at gunpoint late Monday evening.
A report was made at around 9:40 p.m. Monday of an armed robbery at Oak Hill Food Mart, located at the corner of Oak Hill Road and WTLO Road, according to Kentucky State Police. KSP Trooper Adam Childress responded to the store, and employees told him a male subject had entered the store armed with a handgun.
The suspect demanded money and the clerk complied. The suspect then fled the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
No one was injured in the robbery.
KSP, with help from Somerset Police Department and Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department, searched for the suspect by foot and air, but the alleged robber wasn’t found.
“Our involvement was assisting KSP, at their request, in maintaining a perimeter as the search for the suspect got underway,” said Capt. Shannon Smith, with SPD.
The suspect was wearing a black ski mask, black jacket, gloves and blue jeans, according to KSP. Trooper Lloyd Cochran, public affairs officer for KSP, said the subject was also described as heavy-set.
Cochran said there were no updates in the case as of 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Anyone with information is asked to contact KSP at (606) 878-6622 or 1-800-222-5555.
Childress is in charge of the investigation and was assisted by KSP SGT Lafe Owens, Trooper Jason McCowan, Somerset Police Department and the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department.
