Cause of death of woman found in car at Walmart still unsolved, but drugs and alcohol are ruled out

Somerset —

The Pulaski County Coroner’s Office has received further information on the death of a Bronston woman in the parking lot of a major commercial center earlier this month, ruling out intoxicating substances as a factor.
Carolann M. Haley, 42, was found deceased in a 1995 Chevy Camaro in the parking lot of the local Walmart store Saturday afternoon on the afternoon of Saturday, March 9.
Haley’s body was sent to the state medical examiner’s office in Frankfort, Ky., for an autopsy after the local coroner’s office was unable to determine a precise cause of death.
On Friday, Coroner Chuck Godbey said that his office received the results of the toxicology testing performed on Haley. Godbey said that the toxicology report showed that drugs nor alcohol were apparently a contributing factor to Haley’s death.
What did cause it, however, is as of yet still unknown, with the autopsy results pending, said Godbey. He noted that some of the test performed can take up to six weeks.
Lt. Shannon Smith of the Somerset Police Department noted following the incident two weeks ago that there were no signs of trauma that would indicate foul play, but police had not yet ruled out any specific scenarios.
Godbey said that Haley had apparently been there for about 10 to 12 hours, meaning she had been in the vehicle overnight.
Police had to tape off the parking spot on the south end of the Walmart parking lot until Haley could be removed from the car.
