Local man charged with abuse of minor under the age of 12

Somerset — A northern Pulaski County man was indicted this month for child abuse.

A Pulaski County grand jury on April 4 indicted Kyle E. Perry, 21, of Ben Thompson Road, Eubank, on one count of first degree criminal abuse “by intentionally abusing ... a person under 12 years of age, thereby causing physical injury or/and placing him/her in a situation that may cause serious physical injury or cause torture, cruel confinement or cruel punishment.”

The details behind Perry’s April 14 arrest and indictment are not known. The investigating officer is Det. Tracy Haynes, with Kentucky State Police.

Haynes appeared before the grand jury as a witness, but no other information on the case was available via an arrest citation because the case went directly to the grand jury.

Trooper Lloyd Cochran, with Kentucky State Police Post 11, said the agency cannot comment on ongoing investigations, but he did confirm that the child is four years old.

A court date for Perry is set for May 15.

An indictment is an accusation only. An individual is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
