Local man charged with impersonating FBI agent

Somerset —

A Pulaski County man was arrested after he allegedly told a local law enforcement official that he was a federal investigator.
Jonathan F. Cannada, 30, of White Oak Circle, Somerset, was arrested Wednesday and charged with impersonating a peace officer.
According to Pulaski County Constable Mike Wallace, who arrested Cannada, the charge stemmed from a Tuesday incident during which Cannada approached Wallace as Wallace was responding to a call at Cumberland Manor.
“As soon as I pulled up, he (Cannada) came to the car straight to me and identified himself as being with the FBI,” said Wallace.
FBI stands for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Wallace said he “let it drop” at that moment and responded to his original call, but it was after Cannada allegedly identified himself as an FBI agent again and asked that Wallace look into another situation when the constable asked Cannada for some kind of identification.
Cannada said he had none, according to Wallace.
Wallace said he made several phone calls after the incident, and discovered Cannada was not on any records as a federal investigator.
“Nobody knows who this guy is,” said Wallace.
Cannada was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Pulaski District Court today.
