Two local residents injured in head-on crash in eastern Pulaski County

Somerset — Two local residents were injured yesterday afternoon in a head-on collision in eastern Pulaski County.

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department said last night that a 1999 Dodge, operated by Nicholas Anderson, 19, of Science Hill, collided with a 1994 Oldsmobile, operated by Sherry Seward, 49, of Burnside.

The accident occurred on McQueary Road, approximately 14 miles east of Somerset. Sheriff’s department investigators said both vehicles were approaching a hillcrest on McQueary Road when they collided head on.

Seward was extricated from her vehicle by the Somerset-Pulaski County Rescue Squad. She was treated at the scene by the Somerset EMS Department and then airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center by Air Methods.

A spokesperson at UK Medical Center had no information on Seward’s condition at press deadline. However, a family member told the Commonwealth Journal that Seward was in surgery last night with “multiple injuries.”

Anderson was treated at the scene and transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital by the Somerset EMS Department, according to the sheriff’s department.

However, a LCRH spokesperson said last night there was no record of Anderson being treated there.

Pulaski County Sheriff’s units were assisted at the scene by the Woodstock Fire Department.
