Body found along Ky. 452

Somerset —

Investigators are trying to determine why the body of a northern Pulaski County man was found by the side of the road early Tuesday morning.
According to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department, the body was recovered off of East Ky. 452 , which runs between Ky. 39 and North U.S. 27.
According to Pulaski County Coroner Chuck Godbey, the body was identified as Ricky Meredith, 45, of Ky. 452.
There was no identification present, said Godbey, but he was identified by his tattoo and from information garnered by 911 dispatch services.
He was found wearing blue jean shorts and no shirt.
The company doing the road work, Hinkle Contracting, found the body off the side of the road, noted Godbey, who said he might have tripped and fallen while running.
However, it’s also possible that he was struck by a car. “He had a lot of bruising. It kind of looks like that could have happened,” said Godbey.
The presence of road rash on the body indicates that he potentially slid down the highway, he said.
“Unfortunately, because the company had to clean the road before putting down sealant, that could have removed some evidence, noted Godbey. “It could have moved nothing, or it could have moved something we can’t find.”
The sheriff’s office reported that the accident possibly occurred Sunday night into Monday.
Godbey said that the victim’s girlfriend last saw him Monday night.
“She said by (Monday) night, he hadn’t come back,” he said. “She said it’s not unusual for him to take off and walk. When he gets frustrated, he goes for walks to cool down, but he didn’t come home. She was on her way to report him this morning when we found him.”
Anyone with information about any vehicle or person involved in this crash is asked to contact the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office at 606-678-5145.
Further details will be released as they become available.
