Burnside turns up heat on bottled gas thieves

Burnside —

Burnside Police are looking for the suspects involved in a recent theft of propane from a local service station.
According to Craig Whitaker, Burnside Police Chief, two suspects were caught on camera breaking into the cage-like structure containing the propane tanks for sale and took three units.
The incident took place at the Burnside Shell station on South U.S. 27, just north of General Burnside Island State Park, at around 3 a.m. on January 25, 2014.
On Thursday, the Burnside Police Depart-ment was able to release video footage of the incident caught on a surveillance camera and put it on YouTube to enlist the public’s help in identifying the suspects.
Approximately $160 worth of propane was pilfered from the store, said Whitaker.
The police chief added that the metal cabinets containing the propane tanks, located outside the store, were damaged during the break-in.
The suspects are described as a white male and white female. They were apparently driving a purple or maroon Ford Ranger pick-up truck.
Whitaker said it was the only known theft incident of the kind in the area in recent weeks.
“We just ask that if anybody has any information regarding the identity of the two suspects, that they  contact the Burnside Police Department at (606) 561-3405 or at tips@burnsidepolice.com.
