42 tons of stolen fertilizer tracked to Pulaski

The Pulaski County economy has benefited greatly over the years from the so-called “Ohio Navy” visiting Lake Cumberland every summer. Less welcome would be a visit of 42 tons of fertilizer from the Buckeye State.
That’s apparently what northern Pulaski got however, as Kentucky State Police are investigating an alleged theft from a company in Ohio that found its way south.
According to state police (KSP), at 9 a.m. Sunday, the agency’s London post was contacted by Beacon Security Solutions in reference to reportedly stolen property from Consolidated Terminals and Logistics Company in North Bend, Ohio, just outside of Cincinnati.
The private investigation firm had been contracted to investigate thefts from the North Bend terminal, according to KSP Trooper Don Trosper. They conducted surveillance, witnessed the theft in progress, then tracked the vehicle involved back to a residence on Sunrise Drive in Science Hill, Ky.
Trooper Eric Moore seized a tractor-trailer with the fertilizer still loaded and contacted authorities in Ohio for the investigation on the theft.
In all, 84,000 pounds — 42 tons worth — of fertilizer had been allegedly heisted and brought to Science Hill. The value on that equals out to approximately $21,000, or $500 per ton.
“It wasn’t in bags,” said Trosper, “but scooped (into the truck).”
Charges are expected to be forthcoming here in Kentucky, pending the outcome of the investigation and presentation of the case to a grand jury.
No arrests have been made as of yet, according to Trosper. He added that only one suspect is expected here in Pulaski County for charges related to receiving stolen goods, but there could be multiple suspects in Ohio, which authorities there are currently investigating. There are suspects that have been identified here however, said Trosper. 
Trooper Moore is continuing the investigation and was assisted by Trooper Lloyd Cochran.
