Drug sweep targets 25 suspects

Confidential witnesses made undercover buys

Somerset —

Over two dozen suspects became wanted men and women following a large-scale drug investigation operation by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department.
Det. Daryl Kegley of the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department said that in what amounts to the agency’s biggest drug-related round-up of the year, numerous separate investigations were made over  a period of time for a variety of charges related to the sale and manufacturing of illegal or controlled substances.
“The large majority were cases that were uncovered by doing buys, some by confidential witnesses,” he said. “It’s common for us to use confidential witnesses to do undercover (investigations).
“It’s an ongoing process for us,” he added.
A total of 25 individuals have been indicted on 58 charges related to drugs, according to the sheriff’s department. Most of the cases are not connected, noted Kegley.
On the list of suspects released by the sheriff’s department Tuesday, three have already been arrested. They are:
• Ottie Kirby, 51, Monticello Street, Somerset, charged with second-degree trafficking in a  controlled substance, a second offense;
