Somerset — As freezing rain and sleet moved into the area early, starting late Sunday night, by the work commute hours on Monday, it had turned to a heaping of snow. No accumulation totals were available as of noon, but by the lunchtime hour, even major roads like U.S. 27 were still in bad condition, with vehicles either driving very slowly or slipping and sliding. Somerset Mayor Eddie Girdler announced on Facebook that the city was closed and advised people to stay off the roads. More details available in Tuesday's edition of the Commonwealth Journal.
