A Pulaski County man who pleaded guilty to assault and DUI charges in connection with a March accident that left him and his young daughter severely injured was sentenced this week in court.
James “Jimmy” Jasper, 56, of Somerset, appeared Thursday before Pulaski Circuit Judge David A. Tapp for a sentencing hearing. Jasper pleaded guilty in July to second-degree assault and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Tapp on Thursday accepted Jasper’s guilty plea and imposed a recommended 10-year sentence to be probated for five years. That means Jimmy Jasper is to abide by all the requirements of probation — no illicit drug or alcohol use, no violations of the law, etc. — for the five-year period. If he’s found to be in violation of those conditions, the full 10-year sentence may be handed down.
