Train derails at Woods Crossing in Ferguson

Ferguson — State officials and officials with Norfolk Southern Railroad responded Wednesday afternoon to Woods Crossing, located on Ky. 3057 in Ferguson, to investigate after the back wheels of the train shown reportedly slipped off the tracks, prompting a closure of the railroad crossing.

Local emergency officials assisted by rerouting traffic on the Kit-Cowan Road and Murphy Avenue sides of the crossing before handing it over to state officials.

The crossing remained closed for the better part of the day Wednesday while railroad officials investigated.
