Somerset — Lee's Ford marina operator J.D. Hamilton is seeing signs of a comeback for his business as water levels have risen on Lake Cumberland. Hamilton says his boat slip rentals are up this summer as water enthusiasts return to the lake, though recent rains have hampered other parts of his business.

Hamilton predicts it will take several years for his business to fully recover from setbacks caused by the lowering of the recreational haven, which hurt tourism for six summer seasons. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lowered the lake level to repair Wolf Creek Dam. .

The summer season is picking up at Guthrie's River House Restaurant overlooking Lake Cumberland. Restaurant owner Angelique Guthrie says her business was up 12 percent in June from the same time a year ago.
