Local man charged with robbery after car chase with deputies

Guns. Drugs. A car chase. The events that unfolded Wednesday night in southern Pulaski County sound like a synopsis of a prime time crime drama.
Instead, a local man is behind bars and charged with numerous criminal counts after an alleged drug deal gone south.
Barry Canada, 35, of Ky. 90, was charged with two counts of first-degree robbery and two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a report of shots fired on Ky. 90 near the Dollar General Store, at approximately 7 p.m. Wednesday. 
There, Sgt. Jon Williams determined that Canada had allegedly chased the victim’s vehicle from his residence located at 1257 Old Ky. 90, loop 2, blocking the road and firing three rounds into a vehicle occupied by a male and a female.
Further investigation revealed that Canada was acquainted with the female in the vehicle, Krystal Hampton, and had allegedly made a deal for a controlled substance to be purchased by Canada at his residence.
However, after obtaining Canada’s money, Hampton allegedly fled in the vehicle, which was being driven by a Rogers Harris. Canada gave chase and caught up with the vehicle near the Dollar General Store, at which point he fired shots into the vehicle and robbed Harris and Hampton of a total of $75, according to the sheriff’s department.
Canada then allegedly fled the scene before the arrival of the sheriff’s deputies. However, a witness at the scene obtained the registration and description of Canada’s vehicle, which led deputies to his address.
When they arrive, there was no response after several attempts to get Canada to the door, even though it was known that he was inside, according to the sheriff’s department. So authorities tried a different approach. Being as Canada was wanted on a McCreary County Circuit Court warrant on indictment for criminal mischief, entry was able to be made into the residence.
