Convicted drug dealer arrested on parole violation

Somerset —

A convicted drug offender on the lam since last fall has been taken into custody, according to the Somerset Police Department.
Ameer Hasan Miller, 34, was arrested by police Friday at a home in downtown Somerset. He was wanted by the Kentucky parole Board for failing to report to his parole officer and absconding from parole supervision.
Officers found Miller there after acting on a tip they received regarding the location of the man whom Lt. Shannon Smith of SPD called a “career drug dealer” in the area.
“He has been a local drug dealer for a number of years,” said Smith, “and convicted in state court, federal court ... He’s been on the lam since October when  his parole was revoked.”
Miller was convicted of multiple drug trafficking charges and was paroled in 2010, according to SPD.
He was also charged on with a Pulaski Circuit Court Indictment for trafficking in a controlled substance (a case worked by the Lake Cumberland Area Drug Task Force), being a persistent felony offender, and for failing to appear on traffic violations in Pulaski District Court.
Miller was one of those arrested last June in a wide-spread round-up of suspected drug offenders, one that netted 20 arrests as a joint effort between multiple agencies, including Somerset Police and the Lake Cumberland Area Drug Task Force,  with assistance from the Kentucky State Police, the FBI, and Operation UNITE.
On Friday, Miller was arrested by Officer Chris Fisher and lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center
